Only Geo Super to telecast ICC Champions Trophy: Pemra

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has warned cable operators and news channels against unauthorised airing of the ICC Champions trophy matches from South Africa.
In a press release here on Saturday, it said that ESPN (Mauritius) Limited has granted rights of the event to Independent Music Group SMS (Pvt) Limited (Geo TV network) on an exclusive basis for cable and satellite transmission on a live and delayed basis within Pakistan.
The event is scheduled to be telecast on ‘Geo Super’ from September 22 to October 5, 2009. It said all cable TV operators/MMDS distributors are, therefore, intimated that unauthorised distribution of the event through any satellite TV channel other than ‘Geo Super’ shall invoke strict legal action, under Pemra Ordinance and rules/regulations made thereunder, for infringement of the legal rights acquired by the Independent Music Group SMC (Pvt) Limited.
